Lands of Erdos
Weapon (sword), artifact (requires attunement)
Corona is the only Blackblade Armament that is lawful good. It was originally forged for the mythic Volaran and has since passed into the hands of House Draracle—the lineage of Blackblade himself. It has been the holy heirloom of the Draracle family for generations.
Like Volaran and the Draracles, Corona has a burning hatred for evil and particularly fiends (especially devils). The Draracles have long been famed devilslayers by family tradition, and those of them wielding the blade have made themselves into nightmare incarnate for the baatezu.
Corona is currently wielded by Vass Jaquel Draracle, a paladin of Tyr, one of the Havnorian Seven Princes and also one of the Immortal Lords. At Vass’ hands, and with the help of his comrades, Corona has claimed the lives of countless devils and has destroyed and absorbed many other Blackblade Armaments.
Hredd has now turned her gaze on the paladin and his weapon, for she senses Corona is very near Ascension into a Godslayer. And she knows that once that happens, the Immortal Lords will be coming for her…
Corona is a polymorphic weapon. With a bonus action, you can have it change shape. Corona can become a longsword, a shortsword, a greatsword, and a glaive. Regardless of its form, Corona can be used as a divine spellcasting focus.
Corona constantly has a detect evil and good effect on itself as per the spell. It glows faintly when it senses celestials, fiends, and undead, and relays all relevant information to you telepathically.
You can use a bonus action to have Corona teleport to your hand as long as it is on the same plane of existence as you.
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with Corona when you use it as a weapon. You gain a +3 bonus to spell attacks if you are a paladin or a cleric for spells of those classes.
You gain Telepathy out to 60 feet while the blade is on your person.
By speaking certain command words, you can have Corona manifest unique powers. Speaking the command words is a free action, but some of the powers require an action for their effects to take place as noted. Unless otherwise noted, all powers are at-will. If a power calls for a saving throw, use your spell save DC.
Karnas Concordia. (Corona Unite) By speaking these words and using an action, you cast Rary’s telepathic bond.
Karnas Radamar. (Corona Illuminate) Perhaps one of the few sets of words that strike fear into the hearts of devils throughout the planes, Carnas Radamar is Corona’s signature ability and has become the very battle-cry and slogan of House Draracle. Once these words are spoken, Corona becomes wreathed in holy radiance and sheds bright light within 30 feet and dim light within 30 feet beyond that. You deal +2d10 radiant damage to fiends and undead. Fiends and undead within 30 feet of you must make a Charisma Saving Throw when they attempt to use any kind teleportion or plane shifting ability. Failure means the teleportation fails. Fiends slain away from their home plane have a 60% minus their CR chance of being destroyed permanently instead of reforming there.
Karnas Lache. (Corona Life) By speaking these words and using an action, you can cast certain healing spells. Once per day, you can cast heal. Once per short rest you can cast mass healing word (this requires a bonus action instead of an action). Once per 10 days you can cast mass heal.
With the help of the Riskbreakers, Vass Jaquel Draracle, recently destroyed yet one more of Blackblade’s swords. Thus Corona gained the following powers:
Karnas Radamar. As above, but the extra damage Corona deals is now 3d10 and it now deals this damage to aberrations as well. Corona’s teleport inhibiting feature also affects aberrations now.
Aura of Magical Protection: While you hold the drawn sword, it creates an aura in a 10-foot radius around you. You and all creatures friendly to you in the aura have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. If you have 17 or more levels in the paladin class, the radius of the aura increases to 30 feet.
